Formal Woman Portrait

Since the painting had to be dry to the touch for transport oversees, I finished it in Europe. When I showed the work in progress, the painting was taken directly out of my hands and hung on the wall and it took some talking and convincing that it is not done yet. I spent two more days finishing it off and vowed never to rush like this again. I could not get a decent photo from the finished painting due to too much glare, but hope that the client will send me a good photo of the finished piece for my portfolio.

3rd Stage

I will be finishing the painting in Europe, since I am afraid that it will be too wet to make the trip. Renate said she has a well lit room that I can use to complete the painting.

2nd Stage

In this Formal Woman Portrait the grisaille has been bypassed due to time constraints. A quick wash in helped to develop the form and the remaining modeling was left for the paint application. I have to deliver this next week and have been working like crazy to get it finished. This is what I had time to photograph so far.

Note to self:
Wash in OH Raw Umber (softer than WN)
Colors used for background are M.H. Flake White, WN Yellow Ochre Pale, WN Olive Green and Grey V5.
Dress WN Paynes Grey and WN Pewter (transparent)
