Sheep Baked Cookie Recipe
Share
Easter is a great time to bake cookies for friends and family and I went looking for some cute cookies in the shape of Sheep on Etsy. I found them U imagine And I Create , however they only ship within Colorado. I did find an easy recipe on how to bake them myself and have included it here for you.
Ingredients for 40 cookies
11 oz (300 g) flour
1/2 TSP salt
9 oz (200 g) soft butter
3.5 oz (100 g) powder sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 TSP Vanilla extract
1-2 TSP fresh lemon juice (for white parts of wool)
1 tube of icing to decorate cookies in white, grey, black, pink and yellow
cookie cutter in the shape of a sheep
Directions
1. Mix the flour and salt
2. Mix the powder sugar with the soft butter
3. Add the egg and Vanilla and fold in
4. Add the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms
5. Place the dough on plastic foil and roll it out until flat. Then roll it back up and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours
6. Preheat the oven to 320 F (160 C)
7. Sprinkle some flour on a flat surface and roll out the dough
8. The dough should be about 1/2 cm thick
9. Use a cookie cutter to create the sheep shapes
10. Place the cutout cookie forms on a lined cookies sheet
11. Bake for 15 min or until golden brown
12. Allow the cookies to cool off slightly before placing them on a cookie rack to cool off further
13. Mix the lemon juice with the powder sugar until thick and apply for the white parts of the body. Sprinkle more powder sugar on top to make it whiter. This is a healthier alternative to the white frosting, but it is not as solid looking as frosting would be.
If you happen to live in Colorado check out the lovely cookies made by
U imagine And I Create . They are homemade and made with flour, butter, egg, sugar, meringue powder, reconstituted lime juice, gel colorings. The shop creates cookies for all sorts of occasions and the designs are super cute. Too bad they don't ship to California.
