A sketch was presented to the customer to give an idea about the layout and placement of Shadow. This helps customers to visualize what their painting could look like.
By punching up the colors higher contrast is achieved which makes the painting look more interesting.
Adding little details like a name tag adds personalized touches that can mean a great deal to the pet's owner.
I try my best to make the eyes look as expressively as possible and it helps greatly when the subject already has a pretty eye color. Note how the eye color is also refelected in the upholstery. This is done on purpose to make the painting look harmonious.
