Sadie is finished and I absolutely love all that texture. It was so much fun to built it up and see how the different color I used played against each other.
Here is a high resolution capture of the eyes and muzzle area.
Meet "Sadie" an Austrailian Mini Labradoodle with apricot color, 2.5 years old. Her owner Lois says:" Sadie is a comfort therapy dog with Love On A Leash and visits senior care homes. She loves people and other doggy friends. She has 'given' little shamrock charms to her best dog buddies and has practically worn hers out....lost a little green 'gem'. She LOVES finding and carrying sticks. (of all sizes). She has dark brown eyes that communicate.
I have been working on Sadie and building up her dense curly coat. Painting is all about exaggeration and creating that extra punch that can not be captured by a photograph. You will note a variety of color in the fur. With an apricot color as the original coat you will note that a lot of color definition was lost in the reference photo. This is where the artist's creativity has to take over to create a cohesive looking subject that still has an interesting visual effect.
