"Irises"

The Triptych of the Irises consists of three separate canvases each measuring 24"x 36". They have been painted on gallery wrap canvas, because they will be hanging with a little bit of separation between each canvas. The leaves and flowers wrap around the canvas as well, creating abstract shapes on the sides.
This entire composition is a large departure from my Classical Realism style. This is a commissioned piece, with the client having requested a contemporary approach.
The painting has a lot of Ying and Yang elements, from dark vs light color, to flat vs raised surfaces. Please enlarge image to see the texture.
