Basset Hound Portrait

I have added more highlight in the eye and took the painting outside to take a photo in natural lighting. It's been raining here on and off and I am glad that I could take this photo that shows the texture much better than the photo I took inside.
2016 orders are still being completed and today I have a Bassett Hound portrait to show that is almost finished. I still have to work on the eyes and make them pop and add a bit more texture.
The Basset Hound is a short-legged breed of dog of the hound family, as well as one of six recognized Basset breeds in France. The Basset is a scent hound that was originally bred for the purpose of hunting hare.
The Basset Hound gets his name from the French word "bas" , which means "low" . This breed was crosses with Bloodhounds in the late 1800s. Can you see the resemblance?
