Cyclamen come in light and dark pink and of course striking white. This plant is native to the Mediterranean. They are considered perennials and have underground tubers. This is why they like to be watered from below!

During hot summers leaves die down to conserve water, but as soon as the climate gets cooler this plant produces new leaves and starts flowering in the autumn.
I usually buy some potted plants for the home and once they start to look sort of worn out transplant them into a shady spot in my garden. Cyclamen typically grow in dry, shaded areas, where they are at least partly protected from intense sunlight and prefer it on the cool side.
