Candied Pecans

Crunchy homemade pecans that are slightly coated in sugar are a great way to add some deliciousness to any salad or desert. A few of these delectable pralines don't tip the scale either and allow you to savor this special treat pretty much anytime you fancy some. Since candied pecans can be made ahead of time and set aside for when you need them, it is possible to make them in batches and store in a cool place for weeks on end. Pecans don't last long in our homes, so I can't really tell you weather they store any longer. Anyhow, here is what you will need....

Ingredients for 1 1/2 cups candied pecans

1 stick of Butter

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 cup pecan halves

Directions

1. Line baking sheet with foil and coat with butter. Set baking sheet aside.

2. In a heavy 10-inch skillet, melt 3 tablespoons butter over medium heat.

3. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar and the pecans.

Cook over medium heat and stir constantly so all the pecans get nicely coated. Continue stirring for about 4 to 5 minutes or until the sugar melts and turns a rich golden brown.

4. Remove skillet from stove and spread pecan mixture on the prepared baking sheet.

5. Allow to completely cool.

6. Break pecan pieces into smaller chunks as needed.
