This is a painting of baby Ryan who I have painted two years ago. Baby Ryan would have celebrated his 2nd birthday this year, but as it goes with little angels who have grown wings prematurely, this little one is celebrating his birthday with celestial beings.

Baby portraits are challenging to paint, since their skin is so soft and the topography of the face is more a ever so slight change in color temperature. The underlying bone structure is not as developed as in older children and keeping it all soft takes some painting. I need to figure out how to add highlights without over doing it. Back to the easel it is...
