It's been crazy busy in the studio. Here is a close-up of the face ....

The background is made up by me and is a sandy beach. In order for the dog to fit in it's enviroment I am moving the sand around the dog. Thsi way it seems that his entire body is surrounded my the sand. I even added some sand on his nose, paws and tail. This one is almost ready to be called finished and I will post the finished painting very soon.

Update
The client requested a Beach backdrop for this custom painted dog portrait. A sandy beach is being added with a thin strip of ocean in the far back. Color is placed in bold strokes to get an overall feel of what the painting will look like.
