Persian gardens are beautiful and ancient Iranian gardeners considered a tree with a stream flowing beneath it a symbol of eternal life. The Persian paradise garden gets its name from the old Persian word Pairadaeza, meaning an enclosed area. This has been adapted into the English word paradise.
