Suppenküche Restaurant in San Fransisco

The other night I was in the mood for something different and suggested that we go to the Suppenküche in Hayes Valley, San Fransisco. The Suppenküche is a German restaurant that serves Bavarian dishes and which has a great selection of imported beer. I could not believe the size of the huge beer boot that was making it's rounds around several of the tables.

I have been there twice so far and have had to wait for a table for over an hour, so I recommend you make reservations. The setting is like a Wirtshaus, several tables with either chairs or benches. Small parties usually share a table with other restaurant guests. It can get noisy, but once inside you can't but smile along at the cheerful atmosphere.
My favorite on the menu is the Wienerschnitzel made from pork, but there are other great dishes as well. You can read their full menu here
