The Catahoula dog has a striking appearance and a strong work ethic. This breed is considered a tough dog who is taught to work in swamps and forests and they require a leader who is firm and consistent. Judging from the reference photo that my client provided me, this breed also seems to be very caring. Just look at that gaze! 

The Catalouha is named after the Catahoula Parish in Louisiana, USA. The breed was named the state dog of Louisiana in 1979 and change to Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog.
