Sometimes when you feel stressed a little comfort food can go along way. Comfort foods like a bowl of warm oatmeal, can boost levels of serotonin, which is a calming brain chemical.Other foods can reduce levels of cortisol and adrenaline, stress hormones that take a toll on the body over time.

When I was pregnant with my second child I was diagnosed as a gestational diabetic and learned that complex carbs can stabilize blood sugar levels and make you feel more balanced. Whole-grain breakfast cereals, breads, and pastas, as well as old-fashioned oatmeal are great sources.
