The California sun is beating down on my garden and come August the garden is devoid of many flowers. They just don't seem to have the energy to be in full bloom. So I am in search for some drought tolerant plants that I can plant in my so called "problem areas" to get color back into the back yard.

According to Better Homes and Gardens

 "Sundrops" are very drought tolerant and bloom from spring until early fall. This vigorous perennial is very hardy in heat, but it can become aggressive in the garden, especially if the soil is rich in nutrients.

Name: Oenothera macrocarpa (Perennial)

Conditions: Full sun and well-drained soil

Size: To 6 inches tall aand about 8 inches wide

Special Features: Flowers, fragrant, attracts butterflies, drought tolerant and easy to grow

Zones: 5-8
