🌾🏡 Rustic Elegance: The Farmhouse Dining Room 🌾🏡

Farmhouse Dining Room Set

There are many ways of finishing miniature furniture and I love trying out different methods to see what type of finishes I can achieve. A while back I had ordered a unfinished dining room set. I liked the shape of the chairs but wanted to make use of the grain of the wood. I decided to start with a brown watery wash.

Supplies

I used American Multi Surface Satin in Coffee Bean which is a nice rich brown color. Instead of dipping it into water, I dipped it into Mod Podge  ) 1 part paint to 1 part Mod Podge). Then dragged the mixture over the furniture. In areas that had to much paint I used some water and just wiped it off and redid the area. The Mod Podge gives the surface some texture and a bit of sheen . Once everything was dry I applied Saddle Soap and started to buff. The coffee brown seeped into the grooves of the wood and the Mod Podge added some sheen. The Saddle soap brought everything to a nice sheen, natural looking sheen.

These are the pieces I started out with ~

Dining Room Set
I love the way the finish turned out. To complete the dining room I added some farmhouse decor. The pig is handmade by me and can be ordered here.
