Ajeel is what Persian's call a mix of dried fruits and nuts. Usually the mixture contains raisins, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, cashews, mulberries, dried figs, apricots and raisins.
I read in "New Food of Life" that there are the major Ajeels:
1. Ajeel-e shab-e chahar shanbeh sury (always served on the eve of the alst Wednesday of the year) literally meaning "Red Wednesday Night"
2. Ajeel-e shab-e chelleh or shab chareh (night grazing) which is associated with winter festivals and always contains watermelon seeds as well.
3. Ajeel-e moshgel gosha (unraveling problems) You make a wish and if your wish comes true, you hand out Ajeel
We usually buy it all year round and especially when we have company coming. It makes a great snack and is by far healthier than sweets or chips.
