I call southern California home, to be exact a neighborhood called Nellie Gail, which is located in Laguna Hills, about 1 hour south of Los Angeles and 1 hour north of San Diego. When my son was born we wanted to move to a larger home and that's when I started my quest for finding the right home in the right neighborhood, while trying to sell our old home. Easier said than done considering how spread out everything is in southern California and how many homes change ownership each week! We purchased when homes were still getting several bids and bidding wars were something you had to prepare yourself for every time you considered buying. I have to say without my knowledgeable REALTOR® I probably still would be looking. As both a buyer and seller, I have a true appreciation of the work REALTORS® must do to help close real estate transactions, especially when their clients have a long list of must haves and operate on tight schedules.
You might have seen a recent ad by the California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) integrated consumer ad campaign called 'Ripple', which states "What starts with one California REALTOR® benefits all of California."
- Now in its second year, the “Ripple” campaign connects the dots between REALTORS® and the California economy, illustrating how a Champion of Home™ can help consumers close on their dreams and, together, benefit the entire state. For example, one of the campaign spots tells the story of how a REALTOR® gave a family pricing and marketing strategies to help them sell their home.
Thanks to our knowledgeable realtor who helped our family with pricing and marketing strategies to help us sell our old home, we were able to move into this lovely neighborhood. We now even have a spacious guest room which over the years has become quiet popular. Somehow over the years we have found ourselves being B+B operators and have often moonshined as tour guides! Relatives and friends who do not live here love to visit and no visit is complete unless all major theme parks and every mall has been thoroughly visited and explored.
Thanks to my realtor who introduced me to Nellie Gail ranch, I immediately knew that this would be the place of our new home. That was 18 years ago! I love this neighborhood because Nellie Gail is comprised of two opposing neighborhoods nestled on hills, that are equestrian zoned.
There are lots of trails, many parks and tree lined streets that give the neighborhood a sort of country feel. When you hear horses neighing, see goats grazing, the occasional rooster crowing and watch as a donkey is brought to the neighborhood park for a stroll, you know that you live in a very special neighborhood. Now add one of the loveliest stretches of beach being 15 minutes away by car, world class shopping, great dining and tons of sights to see and your location becomes the prime place to live at.
Southern California has tons of great museums with world-class artwork, like the Getty Museum, Los Angels County Museum of Art, San Diego Museum of Art, Natural History Museum to name a few, which are all about an hour away and make for great culture filled day trips.
World famous amusement parks like Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World, Knotts Berry Farms and Lego-land, the Wild Animal Park and several zoos such as the San Diego Zoo and Los Angels Zoo are also about 60 miles away. Best of all there are shopping malls all around us, from the Mission Viejo Mall, to Laguna Hills Mall to Fashion Island and South Coast Plaza, which is filled with designer stores. About 15 minutes south of Laguna Hills you can visit Mission San Juan Capistrano and stroll through their beautiful grounds and experience first hand how the first settlers of Southern California spend their days.
I consider myself pretty lucky to be living is such a great place, where the sun shines throughout the year and were you have everything your heart could desire within such close reach. If you live in my neighborhood I would love to hear why you think it is so special.
Some Interesting facts (Source: National Association of REALTORS®): While highlighting the intrinsic value of REALTORS® as Champions of Home™, the "Ripple" campaign goes beyond the story of the individual REALTOR® and focuses on the powerful positive economic impact that REALTORS®, buyers, and sellers are making throughout California.
