Old Master Palette - Dagnan-Bouveret

"Orpheus's Sorrow"

Just like any other artist, I tend to get very comfortable with a certain choice of colors for my painting palette. To keep things fresh however I force myself to experiment from time to time with other colors. That's when I try to look for paints used by the old master.

The palette of artist Pascal Jean Dagnan Bouveret (1852-1929) was listed  on the Web Art Academy and looks interesting.

Palette:

  • Cremnitz white
  • Cobalt violet
  • Cobalt blue
  • Ultramarine
  • Emerald green
  • Cadmium colors
  • Mars yellow
  • Venetian red
  • 3 different shades of rose madder: light, medium and deep
  • Burnt sienna
  • Mars violet
  • Ivory black
