I received this information via Email from the Dahesh museum and thought I pass it along for those interested in attending. If you would share your experience with me, I would greatly appreciate it.
The Joseloff Gallery at the University of Hartford has organized Enchantment, an exciting exhibition and symposium slated to open November 6, 2009.
The exhibition juxtaposes artworks from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, mostly drawn from the Museum’s collection, with works by contemporary artists, many of whom pay direct homage to Romantic and academic traditions, while others use irony and humor to celebrate the genre in today’s world.
To discuss the links and crossovers, Dr. J. David Farmer, Dahesh’s Director of Exhibitions, will join in a panel discussion on drawing—then and now. For a full list of artists and lectures: visit http://www.hartford.edu.
