The Orient in Western Art

The Orient in Western Art by Gérard Georges Lemaires

This book covers Orientalist art from the 15th Century through the late 19th Century. It explains the reason why Westerners came to the East and chose oriental imagery as their subject for their paintings. What I like best about the book are it's large scale reproductions of paintings from various painters.
