The Torment of Rachel Ames Book Review

open book

Jeff Gunhus is the author of thriller and horror novels for adults and the middle grade/YA series, The Templar Chronicles. He has written the Torment of Rachel Ames and I had a chance to read it before it gets published around November 10th, 2015 by Seven Guns Press.

If you like stories that are full of suspense then this might be a book for you. The story follows novelist Rachel Ames who escapes to a lake cabin to calm her mind and regain a sense of herself. The setting of the lake cabin is beautiful and the neighbors seem nice, yet the author feels an unease she can not explain.

You know that gut feeling one gets, yet tries to ignore? Well, she does that too and sets about to settle in when unexplainable things start to happen.

The Torment Of Rachel Ames (Kindle Single) By Jeff Gunhus

I love thrillers with a twist that explore the complex layers of people's psyche. I received an uncorrected proof courtesy of the author, Jeff Gunhus, in exchange for an honest review. This book reminded me of the writing style of Stephen King. It was suspenseful and kept you wondering what role the odd neighbor had to play in the developing story. I loved the imagery of one of the characters that Rachel stumbles upon one day. A man who sweeps the floor in a forest and talks about Greek mythology. The artist in me is seeing a painting develop - LOL!

Anyhow I enjoyed reading this book and hope to be selected to read even more of Jeff Gunhus' books as they become available. Let me know how you like the story if you have read it as well.

Amazon's Kindle Singles program officially selected RACHEL AMES to be included as part of their curated collection. There are only 320 titles in the collection including some of my heroes Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Lee Childs, and Hugh Howey. You can check it out here. http://tinyurl.com/pghrhcn (you might need to cut and paste the link into your browser.)
