Credit Card Theft

As technology is changing, so do the tactics deployed by thieves. You might not know it, but you could have a credit or debit card that uses a tiny computer chip and a radio antenna to transmit account information from your card—even when you’re not shopping directly to thieves.

The cards are considered safe, but they are vulnerable to being skimmed without ever leaving your pocket. The information communicated from your card to a card reader can be enough to create a counterfeit card that can be successfully used to make an unauthorized purchase. One of the ways you can protect your cards is by using an RFID wallet.

What is RFID?

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless use of electromagnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects. The tags contain electronically stored information. - Wikipedia

There are many walled  design on the market that are meant to protect against RFID theft. Today I am sharing a men's wallet made by Leopardd which is made of a good quality Napa Genuine Leather and is sold in black or brown. The wallet was tested and approved through independent lab tests and was tested for 13.56 MHZ frequency. Tested on an HID i Class - 125 KHz Proximity Cards, RFID signals are also blocked. The Leopardd RFID blocking protection isenough to protect against account theft and works better than keeping tin foil in your wallet.

My question was how exactly does one know if a wallet blocks RFID signals. The company suggests to place the RFID card in this wallet and close the wallet. If a card reader can not read the information on the card while the card is in the wallet, it means that the RFID is blocked.

“Our wallet not only block 13.56 MHz Frequency in which the credit cards operate, but also block 125 KHz RFID signal! Not every RFID blocking wallet can do this.”

The wallet, as I mentioned before is made of a good quality leather. There are 8 pockets for cards and flip out for a id or license. The pockets hold one card per pocket and fit snug, which means that cards won't slip out. The stitching seems well made and and the only thing I have noticed is a ever so slight crunch sound, when opening the sections were bills go. However, I think that's due to the RFID blocking material, which would make sense and means there is actually something there to protect the cards.

The wallet came nicely packaged in a black gift box, which makes it great to gift to someone. I like staying ahead of electronic pickpocketing thieves and using a wallet that looks nice and is well made is a win win in my book.

The company offers a no hassle Money Back Guarantee as well.
