Raising Koi fish is a wonderfully rewarding hobby. I used to have a Koi pond and would buy these lovely fish when they were still small. With time, they would grow and glide through the water with such grace. To this day I miss my Koi pond.

A black Magoi fish which dates back about 2,500 years ago is said to be the ancestor of the Koi. Farmers used to supplement their diets with carp, by letting them swim in their irrigation ponds. Over time the fish started to develop different colors through natural mutations. Later Koi ponds were kept for nobility and the fish bred to produce even more stunning colors. Colors include white, silver, orange, yellow, green and blue and the white/black mix.
