All this sitting in front of computers or the television can take it's toll on our backs. Anyone who has had to deal with back problems also has heard that bad posture is often the cause for all this back pain misery.
If you follow my blog, you know that I have a lot of back problems. I perk up every time I see a new gadget on the market that might help keep the back problems in check. On the website of Towish it states : "PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN A CURE" and I totally believe in that statement.
This time I received the item free of charge in exchange for my unbiased review. Towish states that their posture corrector was designed to prevent and combat lots of medical problems related to bad posture:
- clavicle fracture
- Thoracic kyphosis
- forward head carriage
- Osteoporosis pain
- Misaligned spine
- sports injuries
The Towish posture brace is designed to pull your shoulders back so that you stand and sit in a more upright position. The company recommend wearing the brace 15-20 minutes each day.
You can wear the brace under or over your clothes and the adjustable velcro makes adjusting the brace fairly easy. However, It took me a while to figure out what length the straps should be at to feel comfortable. You might want to enlist some help the 1st time you are trying to adjust the size. After that putting the brace on and taking it off is easy. It's very similar to putting on and taking off a backpack.
The straps are sold in different sizes and fits from teens and small children to their parents from 25" to 55" in chest circumference. The brace can be washed in cold water and air dried.
So is it comfortable to wear and does it work you ask?! The 1st time I tried the brace on it cut under my arm pits and I was not a happy camper. I had it too tight and was wearing the brace under my clothes. The next time, I adjusted the straps and had it on a bit looser. I also wore the brace over my clothes and that worked better for me. Wearing a brace over your clothes is not exactly making a fashion statement, but I am wearing it as I am working at my computer. As a matter of fact, I am wearing the brace as I am writing this blog post today and feel it makes me sit upright. To me that's mission accomplished. I am sitting upright, rather than slouching and that means the brace is doing what it is supposed to. The brace can be ordered through Amazon.
