Combining Photos to create one painting

combining photos for one paintingEvery now and then I get a request to combine several different photo references and turn it into one painting. This painting will be created out of 4 different photo references featuring 4 animals.

When I started on the layout I had to enlist my clients help to figure out the scale of the animals in relation to each other. When I first created a mock up, we  moved things around the picture plane until we found the right set up.

This is a very rough paint in to place the figures and objects in their proper place and somehow get the color notes down. As the painting progresses more and more of the details will become visible.
