People who suffer from chronic pain are always on the lookout for products that can help ease the discomfort. I suffer from constant back pain due to stenosis, which is a narrowing of the spinal column. One wrong move and nerves get pinched shooting pain up and down my back and legs. Needless to say when that happens I am not a happy camper. One thing that I have learned is that my muscle seem to tighten up considerably during that time and that's when I pull out the Santa Medical Electronic Pulse Massager. I actually bought this unit several years ago and love the three different pulse massages this small device delivers long before I was offered to write a review.

What I like about this unit is that it operates with 4 AAA batteries, which means that I can apply the four pads and pretty much have them on while I go about my business. The dial channels have 6 auto programs - a massage modes, pulse mode and knead mode. Each setting lasts for 15 minutes, after which time the unit shuts itself off automatically. Pulse width is 0-200us and intensity range is from 0-80 volts. I set it to 4 and that is about as much as I can tolerate, but you can go as high as 10. Hubby used it once on his arm on a much higher setting and we could observe how with each electronic pulse the muscles would twitch up as well.

The booklet says:

Massage: 100-250 micro-second pulse width, 16 millisecond period, variable speed, 4 seconds on, 1 second off.

Beat: 500 micro-second pulse width, 1 beat per second, speed adjustable

Knead: 100-250 micro-second pulse width, 16 millisecond period, variable speed, 4.5 seconds on, 0.5 second off.

The pads adhere very well and my unit which is a couple of years old still works. The unit does not eliminate back pain, but eases the pain. I absolutely love my unit!
