Selvera Weight Management Review - Entry 2

It's been almost a week now and it's time to share my progress with the Selvera Weight Management program. Are you ready?!  - I lost 7 lbs in one week! I am soooo excited!!!

Was it easy you ask - actually yes!

In the past I have tried to stick to the Paleo diet as much as possible and that has given me a good starting point on how to eat well and stay away from white rice, noodles and bread. So incorporating the Selvera meal plan, which was developed by doctors and dietititans was easy.

Although signing up for a meal plan is by no means a requirement to use the Selvera weight management program, I wanted to kick start my weight loss by trying out their pre-packaged, and pre-measured food items.

Last time I shared about all the things that I received from Selvera in the mail (see here) and today I like to share what I think about the taste of the meals.

Let's start with the Shakes ~

Shakes come in a variety of flavors and I liked the Chocolate Cream Shake Mix, which gets mixed with tap water the best. It reminded me of chocolate milk and I like it as a treat in-between meals. Each bottle counts as one meal and has 100 calories.

If you like to mix in fruits (although they count extra) the vanilla flavor would probably work best. Sometimes shakes can taste pretty chalky, but this was not the case with the Selvera Shakes. I try to eat almost no sweets and some of the shakes almost tasted too sweet for my taste. However for someone who is used to eating sweets the shakes will taste just right and are a nice treat for the taste buds.

Cereal and Oatmeal ~

I loved the cereal, which has a slight cinnamon flavor and the oatmeal which has small bits of dried apple in it. Each is pre-measured and again very low in calories.  The sugar content in both is extremly low as well and either one could be eaten as a meal as well.

The Zesty vegetable chili with beans was not bad tasting, but it's nothing to boast about. At 100 calories, it is a far cry from a gourmet meal, but for someone who needs to get a grip on the calorie counting thing, it shows exactly how little our bodies need in order to get the nutritional values necessary. I dressed mine up a bit with a crackling bread and some tomatoes - it was my 1st day on the diet and I needed to feel, well I don't know - like I am still eating normal?!

Sorry about the shaky image - I was totally beside myself - shaking in my booties not knowing what this is going to taste like. :) I finished it all off - it is amazing that when you are given very small portions how tempted you get to lick out the dish and to leave no morsel behind! By now I have also tried the other meals and the pasta dishes are definitely my favorites so far.

By now you probably are wondering if I will stick to this new weight managment plan and the answer is "Heck - YES!"  My stomach has already gone in and I am back to a loose size 12. I am aiming for a size 8, don't want to get ahead of myself here and prefer to set realistic goals!

In the upcoming weeks, I will be working with my Selvera Dietitian to learn how to start incorporating more of the foods I love into the diet and still keep shedding the weight.

Eating less alone won't do much for you and therefore I am now also walking an insane amount. I never realized how hard it is to get 10,000 steps into one day and the pedometer has been quiet an eye opener on how little I actually moved each day.

If you are ready to take the step towards loosing weight and want to partner up with me sign up for Selvera and leave me a comment, so we can cheer each other on.
